Steve Locker's Qualifications

Steve founded Locker Soccer in 2004 when he discovered that there was a valuable connection between fun, sports and childhood development. He later founded Second Nature Sports in 2013 to share his coaching philosophy with others. He holds a Master of Education degree.

Steve has 16 years of collegiate head coaching experience including: 7 years at Harvard University, 3 years at the University of Rochester and 6 years at Otterbein College. Steve’s coaching career includes 8 League Championships, including 2 Ivy League titles. He has coached players that have been drafted by the MLS, several All Americans and over a dozen Academic All Americans. His 1996 Harvard squad finished the season with the nation’s longest win streak that year (16 games) and finished the season ranked 7th nationally of all Division I schools. He played collegiate soccer for Penn State and internationally for Hannover 96 in Germany.

Steve holds the distinction of being the first American to earn a professional coaching diploma from Germany. He has worked with A.C. Milan’s top team in Italy and has been the only American to be offered a position working with their youth players on their Academy staff. Steve resides with his wife Cindy and two children, Scott and Chloe, in Upper Arlington, Ohio.

Coach Matt

With over 20 years of coaching experience, Coach Matt brings elite-level knowledge and passion to the Locker Soccer team. A Worthington, OH native, Matt’s playing career includes Club Ohio Dynamo, the U17 U.S. National Team, and The Ohio State University. His extensive coaching background spans Ambassadors, Crew Jrs, Olentangy Classics, and Club Ohio, all contributing to his dynamic leadership at Locker Soccer. Currently coaching players ages 5–7 and leading Skills Lab sessions, Matt is known for creating a positive, supportive environment where athletes grow in both skill and character. His ultimate goal: to instill a lifelong love of the game.

Coach Blaize

Coach Blaize, from Powell, OH, brings great energy and focus to Locker Soccer’s summer camps, Performance Lab, and Elite 60 programs. A former varsity player at Olentangy Liberty High School and club player with Classics Eagles and Olentangy United, Blaize continued his love for the sport through intramural soccer at the University of Dayton. Now in his second year coaching at Locker Soccer, he emphasizes real-game scenarios to build hardworking, passionate players. With an eye on the future, Blaize plans to attend the World Cup when it comes to the U.S. in 2026 — further proof of his lifelong connection to the game.

Coach Kylie

A proud Dublin, OH native, Coach Kylie grew up playing for Locker Soccer Elite, FC42, and Ohio Premier, eventually competing at the collegiate level for Heidelberg University. With three years of coaching experience, she’s led camps at Locker Soccer, winter clinics with the YMCA, and coached a season with Tiffin Soccer Club. Kylie brings warmth and creativity to her coaching, aiming to make soccer both fun and enriching for every child. She believes in fostering a safe space where young players can grow their confidence, skills, and passion for the sport. A lifelong Columbus Crew and Manchester United fan, Kylie brings that same enthusiasm to every session.
